§ 10-1. Burial locations and burial permits.

  • (a)

    No person shall be buried inside the city limits on private property, except in regularly kept cemeteries, and then only by a permit signed by the director of parks and recreation. The director shall not issue a burial permit unless the request is accompanied by a certificate of death given by a physician and a further showing that the burial ground complies with all applicable laws and ordinances.

    (b)

    A burial permit fee in an amount established by the city administrator shall be collected by the director at the time the permit is issued.

    (c)

    It shall be unlawful for any person to bury, inter, or cause to be buried or interred the dead body of any person in any cemetery, graveyard or other place within the city, exclusive of those portions thereof belonging to the United States.
