Latest version.
  • In order to comply with the provisions of this chapter, each candidate must:

    (1)

Appoint a treasurer or candidate committee not later than ten days after becoming a candidate. A candidate may serve as his own treasurer. A registered lobbyist is not eligible for appointment as treasurer for any candidate or candidate committee.

    (2)

File an Appointment of Treasurer or Candidate Committee form with the unified government clerk within ten days of appointing a treasurer or candidate committee. Until such form is filed, contributions cannot be received and expenditures cannot be made by or on behalf of the candidate. Any change in information reflected in the form requires that a new form must be filed within ten days of any change.

    (3)

Establish a checking account in a financial institution into which all contributions are to be deposited and from which all expenditures are to be made. The only exception is if the candidate makes all campaign expenditures from personal funds and does not accept contributions from any other source.

    (4)

File a Statement of Substantial Interest with the unified government clerk within ten days after the filing deadline.

    (5)

Pay a registration fee at the time of filing for office in an amount as required by the state Campaign Finance Act.
