§ 17-31. Abatement.

  • The public health department shall have the power and authority to examine into all sources of filth, causes of sickness and other nuisances that may be injurious to the health of the city. Whenever any such nuisance or whenever conditions which may cause sickness or epidemics are found to exist on any private property, the public health department may issue a written order to the owner, agent or occupant thereof requiring the owner, agent or occupant to remove the same within 24 hours or within such reasonable time thereafter as the public health department may order. Any owner, agent or occupant who neglects so to do shall be guilty of a misdemeanor.
