§ 23-14. Complaint; requirements; form.

  • (a)

    A complaint shall be in writing and shall be signed by the complainant. More than one violation may be charged in the same complaint. A complaint shall be deemed sufficient if in substantially the following form:

    IN THE MUNICIPAL COURT

    OF THE UNIFIED GOVERNMENT

    OF WYANDOTTE COUNTY/KANSAS CITY, KANSAS

    The Unified Government of

    Wyandotte County/Kansas City, Kansas,

    vs.

    ___________

    (Accused person)

    The undersigned complains that on or about the _______ day of _______, A.D., _______, in the City of Kansas City, Kansas, and State of Kansas, ________ did then and there unlawfully in violation of Section _______ of Ordinance No. _______ of the Unified Government of Wyandotte County/Kansas City, Kansas.

    (b)

    A complaint is not required to be sworn if it is signed by a law enforcement officer or by one of the city officials named in section 23-15.

    (c)

    Any complaint issued shall be deemed in substantial and proper form in compliance with subsection (a) of this section if issued by and under the authority of the city.
