§ 2-382. Term of office.

  • (a)

    Unless provided otherwise by federal, state or local law, the terms of office of all members to any agency, board, commission, committee, or other entity created by or under the authority of the unified government shall be four years, subject to the provisions in this section. The positions indicated in the following table shall be filled by the person nominated by the commission member set out adjacent to each respective position after approval by the full commission:

    (b)

    Except as otherwise provided herein, the terms of each member of an agency, board, committee, commission, or other entity created by or under the authority of the unified government shall coincide with the term of the appointing mayor or commissioner.

    (c)

    Beginning on the effective date of this ordinance/resolution [adopted May 5, 2016], each term of the incumbent members of an agency, board, committee, commission, or other entity created by or under the authority of the unified government shall terminate on March 31 of the even-numbered year next following the original expiration of the position's term. Thereafter all terms shall begin on April 1 of an even-numbered year.

    (d)

    Notwithstanding any other provision in this section, unless he or she resigns his or her position or forfeits such position under section 2-384, an incumbent member of an agency, board, committee, commission, or other entity created by or under the authority of the unified government shall continue in the position to which he or she has been appointed until a successor is appointed.
