§ 35-40. Enforcement officers.

  • Police officers of the unified government may at all times enforce the provisions of this chapter and other traffic ordinances of this unified government, all state vehicle laws, and all temporary, emergency and permanent regulations of the traffic engineer, the chief of police, and the director of parking control and may at any time direct and control traffic in person or by visible or audible signals. In the event of fire, temporary traffic congestion or other emergency, or to expedite the flow of traffic or to safeguard pedestrians, officers may direct traffic as conditions require notwithstanding the provisions of this chapter and other traffic ordinances. Parking meter officers in the department of parking control shall concurrently with the police department enforce the provisions of this chapter concerning violations for unlawful or prohibited parking.
