§ 35-41. Authority to establish emergency parking restriction or prohibitions.

  • (a)

    The traffic engineer may install emergency parking restrictions or prohibitions upon any street when, in the opinion of the traffic engineer, the parking restrictions are necessary.

    (b)

    A person may apply to the traffic engineer to have emergency parking restrictions or prohibitions installed upon any street. If the traffic engineer determines that such emergency restrictions or prohibitions should be installed, he may require the applicant to install the signs indicating the emergency restrictions or prohibitions. All signs installed by the applicant shall be in conformance with the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices and in conformance with the requirements of the traffic engineer. All signs installed by the applicant shall be removed by the applicant immediately upon completion of construction or special operations.

    (c)

    If the traffic engineer determines that the unified government should install the signs indicating emergency restrictions or prohibitions at the request of an applicant, the engineer shall collect a fee in the amount established by the county administrator for each sign installed. The applicant shall notify the traffic engineer immediately of the completion of construction or special operations.
