§ 35-71. Penalty.

  • (a)

    Every person convicted of a violation of any of the provisions of this chapter for which another penalty is not provided by this chapter or by the schedule of fines established by the judges of the municipal court pursuant to section 35-72 shall be punished for first conviction thereof of a fine of not more than $500.00, by imprisonment for not more than six months, or by both such fine and imprisonment.

    (b)

    Fines listed on the schedule of fines established by the judges of the municipal court pursuant to section 35-72 shall be doubled if the person is convicted of a traffic infraction that is a moving violation and is committed within any road construction zone.

    (c)

    Fines listed on the schedule of fines established by the judges of the municipal court pursuant to section 35-72 shall be doubled if the person is convicted of exceeding the maximum speed limit in a school zone authorized under K.S.A. 8-1560.
