§ 35-957. Definitions.

  • The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this article, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:

    Block face means all of the properties on one side of a given street between two consecutive intersecting streets.

    Curbside parking space means 20 linear feet of curb, exclusive of those portions of the curb where parking, apart from the provisions of this article, is not permitted.

    Household means all housing units intended for occupancy as separate living quarters (e.g., house, apartment, single room) and all persons residing therein.

    Peak period means that time interval between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., on weekdays, during which the highest percentage of parking occurs.

    Residential district means a contiguous or nearly contiguous area containing public streets primarily abutted by residential property or residential and nonbusiness property such as schools, parks, churches, hospitals, and nursing homes.

    Residential permit parking area means an area designated by the unified government traffic engineer where curbside parking on public streets is limited, unless the vehicle properly displays a permit issued under this article.
