§ 37-180. Construction of vehicles.

  • Every taxicab and livery vehicle used and operated on the streets of the city must be factory-made to accommodate three persons riding in the back seat, and not less than two nor more than three persons riding in the front seat, including the driver. The vehicle shall be equipped with doors opening directly into the seats to be employed by the passengers and occupants of such taxicabs, which doors shall be in addition to those provided for the use of the driver. No vehicle having fewer than four doors in good working order shall be used as a taxicab or livery vehicle in the city. Every taxicab and livery vehicle operated in the city shall have a knob or handle on the inside of each door opening out of the compartment in which the passengers are carried by which such door are closed and may easily be opened from the inside. Windows shall be operable from inside by the passengers.
