§ 8-384. Employee plumbers registration.

  • (a)

    Any person may work as an employee plumber for a licensed plumber but shall not do any plumbing work or installation of plumbing apparatuses except under the direct supervision of a licensed plumbing contractor or master plumber. Any licensed plumbing contractor or master plumber who is the employer or supervisor of any employee plumber working at the trade shall be responsible for the work performed by such employee plumber. The license of any such licensed plumbing contractor or master plumber contractor may be suspended or revoked under the provisions of this division for any improper work performed by an employee plumber during the time of such person's employment while under the supervision of such licensee. The registration of such employee plumber may also be subject to suspension or revocation under the provisions of section 8-322.

    (b)

    Upon employing an employee plumber, the licensed plumbing contractor shall notify the building official within 30 days of such actual employment, and the employer shall also notify the building official within 30 days of the termination of such employment.

    (c)

    All employee plumbers employed by licensees who are covered by this division shall, within 60 days of actual employment, register with the building official, and the building official shall register such employee plumber upon receiving verification of employment, and upon such employee plumber paying to the building official the required registration fee.
