§ 2-141. Nomination of candidates for the offices of sheriff and register of deeds.

  • In order for their names to appear on the ballot for the fall local nonpartisan elections, candidates for the offices of sheriff and register of deeds must qualify to become candidates by one of the following methods:

    (1)

    A nomination petition signed by 1,400 qualified electors of the unified government; or

    (2)

    A declaration of intention to become a candidate accompanied by a filing fee equal to one percent of the annual salary for such position. Either the nomination petition or the declaration and filing fee must be filed by the filing deadline for other local offices.
