§ 31-9. Vehicles used for collection and disposal.

  • (a)

    All wagons, trucks, cars, or other vehicles used for the collection and removal of garbage within the city shall at all times be kept in a clean and sanitary condition and shall have tight beds or containers from which no garbage, litter or liquid may escape.

    (b)

    All public or private vehicles used for the collection, disposal or transportation of trash shall have enclosed bodies or suitable provision for covering the body. Provision and use of a tarpaulin or canvas cover to enclose open bodies of collection vehicles may be permitted when specifically approved by the health officer.

    (c)

    Vehicles used for the collection, disposal or transportation of trash shall have watertight metal bodies or containers of easily cleanable construction, shall be cleaned at sufficient frequency to prevent nuisance or insect breeding, and shall be maintained in good repair.
