§ 29-608. Mandatory duties of the purchasing director.

  • Mandatory duties of the purchasing director shall be as follows:

    (1)

    Assistance within unified government departments. Where feasible, the purchasing director shall provide appropriate assistance and support to unified government departments in their efforts to assist MBEs and WBEs in learning how to do business with the unified government.

    (2)

    Special publications. The purchasing director shall give special publicity to procurement procedures and issue special publications designed to assist MBEs and WBEs in learning how to do business with the unified government.

    (3)

    Source lists. The purchasing director, in conjunction with the director of the human resources department, shall compile, maintain, and make available source lists of MBEs and WBEs for the purpose of encouraging procurement from MBEs and WBEs.

    (4)

    Solicitation mailing lists. To the extent deemed by such officer to be appropriate and as may be required by regulation, the purchasing director shall include MBEs and WBEs on solicitation mailing lists.

    (5)

    Solicitation of MBEs and WBEs. The purchasing director shall ensure that MBEs and WBEs are solicited on each procurement for which such businesses may be suited.

    (6)

    Training programs. The purchasing director shall develop special training programs to be conducted by the unified government to assist MBEs and WBEs in learning how to do business with the unified government.
