By written notice filed with the mayor and commission, the county administrator shall
designate, subject to approval of the commission, a qualified appointive administrative
officer to exercise the powers and perform the duties of the county administrator
during any temporary absence or disability of the county administrator. During such
absence or disability, the mayor, with the consent of the commission, may at any time
revoke such designation and appoint another appointive administrative officer of the
unified government to serve until the county administrator shall return or the disability
shall cease.
